Hi, I am Cameron Betbeze and I am joining the Bandwagon team as an Account Associate. I am thrilled to be working for a public relations agency that focuses on emphasizing their client’s values.
As an account associate, my time will be concentrated on public relations services, account services, and content development. I will be working closely with Visit Oxford, Mississippi, and Visit Aiken, South Carolina to enlighten travelers on the attractions these locations offer and work as an advocate for tourist. This opportunity will aid with my future goals and supply me with applicable experience following my time with the agency. I am excited to elevate the public presence of Bandwagon and the city of Clearwater, Florida through social media and web development by providing users the latest updates in both companies.
In addition to these responsibilities, I will have the opportunity to sharpen my account management skills by directly working with Visit Aiken, South Carolina in leading their client check-in meetings. With my internship experience and skill-set, I am confident that I will bring strong media relations tactics and a fresh perspective to the Bandwagon team.
In May 2020, I graduated from the Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University with a concentrated study in public relations. My professors at the Manship School brought my writing skills and project management background to an advanced level. I gained valuable experience writing press releases, media pitches, video scripts, blog posts, fact sheets, as well as an abundance of other writing samples. While exercising my project management proficiency, I acted as the event coordinator for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, created a social media influencer campaign, organized deep research on animal welfare and other projects. My courses and internships required I have versatile computer software awareness, which led me to broaden my knowledge with programs like Indesign, Adobe, Word Press, Photoshop, Hootsuite, and other marketing tools. While working towards my bachelor’s degree, I also earned a minor in business and psychology. These courses allowed me to deepen my understanding of human interaction and the innovation behind advanced marketing strategies. As a diligent student, I was granted several scholarships and achievement awards reflecting my dedication to my education. By obtaining a high grade in several communication-intensive courses, I earned my Communicators Certificate. All of the knowledge gained from my time at LSU will push me to accomplish the goals set for me by the leadership team at Bandwagon.
An Involved Student
In addition to my academic studies, I was involved in my on-campus sorority where I assisted in philanthropy, recruitment, and on-campus outreach efforts. The four years I spent in the sorority opened me up to opportunities advancing myself in the community. I also spent some time volunteering for Live 2 Serve, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to helping poverty-stricken children, where we would spend our time playing games with neighboring youth. As a dedicated tiger-fan, I became a member of the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation focused on supporting LSU athletic programs and enriching my years spent at a championship-winning school.
l am currently pursuing my master’s degree with the Manship School concentrating my studies in strategic communication. By continuing my education in this field, I will accomplish my ultimate goal of leading a public relations department at an entertainment or travel-based agency. The leadership and course load offered through the LSU Graduate School will equip me with a strong background to bring my career aspirations to the next level. | intend to carry the lessons learned from Bandwagon into my graduate school courses and beyond.
Throughout the years, | held several positions that developed my mass communication skill-set.
During my tenure as the marketing intern with Community Coffee Company, a family-owned
business based in Baton Rouge, | was responsible for many large-scale projects. Some of these
include running the internal communication website, organizing company-wide events, orchestrating sponsored appearances, and leading the philanthropic Cash for Schools program. My time with Community Coffee Company allowed me to explore both external and internal communication outlets and develop proficiency in project management. Prior to this position, | also served as a public relations intern for DBSysgraph, a Baton Rouge-based computer-software company. Within these internship opportunities, | obtained insight into the value of in-depth research and customer service. While working with a variety of clients at a time, accuracy and timeliness were vital. In addition to my public relations responsibilities of drafting specified media products, | also assisted in website modifications to reflect client-needs and helped orchestrate day-to-day data analysis.
As an account associate, | am excited to utilize my public relations skills, while expanding my knowledge with a well-established firm like Bandwagon. The opportunities provided to me through Bandwagon will challenge me in new ways and | am thrilled to be working with an agency focused on client and public needs.
